How to Check Your Gift Card Balance: Amazon, Apple, Google Play, Steam and Xbox

Whether you want to spend the last few dollars or sell a gift card you no longer need, the first step is knowing the exact balance. Most platforms show your balance inside your account once the card is redeemed. Here is where to find it for the five most popular gift cards.

Important: for digital platforms like Apple, Google Play, Steam and Xbox, the balance only appears after you redeem the code to an account. If you plan to sell the card, do not redeem it; an unredeemed code is what buyers pay for.

Amazon gift card balance

1. Sign in to the Amazon site for your card’s region (for example amazon.com, amazon.in or amazon.co.uk).
2. Go to Your Account → Gift cards.
3. Your redeemed balance is shown at the top of the page.

Apple gift card balance

1. On iPhone or iPad, open the App Store.
2. Tap your profile picture at the top right.
3. If you have a balance, it is shown under your name. On a Mac, open the App Store and click your name in the sidebar.

Google Play balance

1. Open the Google Play Store app.
2. Tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Payment methods.
3. Your Google Play balance is listed at the top.

Steam Wallet balance

1. Open Steam on desktop or the Steam mobile app and sign in.
2. Your Steam Wallet balance is shown next to your account name at the top right.
3. For details, open Account details to see purchase and wallet history.

Xbox and Microsoft balance

1. Sign in at your Microsoft account page in a web browser.
2. Open Payment & billing (or Payment options).
3. Your Microsoft account balance is shown there. On console, check Settings → Account → Payment & billing.

What if the balance is wrong or the code does not work?

• Check the region. A card from one country usually will not redeem on an account set to another. This is the number-one cause; read why gift card regions matter.
• Re-type the code. Letters like O and 0 or I and 1 are easy to confuse.
